• 🏳️What does its flag mean? The deep blue field symbolizes the ocean surrounding the three coral atolls. A yellow Polynesian canoe (vaka) depicts a traditional sailing canoe heading toward the Southern Cross. Four yellow stars represent the Southern Cross constellation as well as the three Tokelauan atolls plus Swains Island (geographically part of Tokelau, administered by American Samoa).
