• ☕The planet's coffee empire — Brazil has been the world's biggest producer and exporter of coffee for over 150 years in a row, accounting for about a third of all global production. Brazilians themselves are obsessed with it, sipping tiny 'cafezinhos' all day long and offering one to guests in banks, shops and even hair salons.
• 🐍Ilha da Queimada Grande, off São Paulo's coast, is the natural habitat of the highly venomous golden lancehead (Bothrops insularis), a snake found nowhere else in the wild. Access is restricted to researchers.
• 🌿Brazil has six terrestrial biomes: the Amazon, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Pampa and Pantanal.
• 🏛Brasília became Brazil's capital in 1960, following Lúcio Costa's 1957 Plano Piloto and major buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
