• 🇬🇧The only country on the South American continent where English is the official language — a legacy of its days as the colony of British Guiana. Guyana is culturally connected to the Caribbean and is a member of CARICOM.
• 💧Deep in the jungle hides Kaieteur Falls — one of the most powerful and spectacular waterfalls in the world, about five times taller than Niagara. What makes it unique is that a massive volume of water plunges over the cliff in a single uninterrupted drop, surrounded by untouched rainforest where scientists still discover new species.
• 🛢Guyana began producing crude oil from the offshore Liza field in 2019, following major discoveries in the Stabroek Block.
• 🪷Home of the giant water lily — Victoria amazonica, the largest water lily on Earth, was first discovered here. Its huge circular leaves can reach about 3 metres (10 ft) across and are sturdy enough to support a small child (up to 30–40 kg) if the weight is spread evenly. It's Guyana's national flower and appears on the country's coat of arms.
