• 🌊A mineral-rich West African nation bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. Often called the 'water tower' of West Africa, its mountainous highlands give birth to the region's largest rivers.
• 🏳️Adopted in 1958, Guinea's flag consists of three vertical bands using the traditional Pan-African color palette. The red stripe at the hoist symbolizes the blood shed by martyrs in the fight for freedom from colonial rule, as well as the nation's collective determination to work. The yellow stripe in the center represents the bright tropical sun, the warmth of the people and the rich mineral wealth of the country, notably gold and bauxite. • 🎵Globalizing Mandinka music — Guinea's rich musical heritage was introduced to the global stage by musician Mory Kanté, whose 1987 hit single 'Yeke Yeke' became the first African single to sell over a million copies, topping charts across Europe.
